Wasteland opens a third store in Los Angeles

It’s only a matter of days: the opening of the new Wasteland’s shop is scheduled for May and will celebrate the birth of the brand’s third store. It will land in Highland Park, on Figueroa Street, neighbor of the Go Get Them Tiger coffee-shop, replacing a jewelry retailer.

Founded in 1985 by Chery Cohen and Joey Swinney, the vintage clothing brand was launched in the city of Berkeley with the desire to create “a perfectly curated, style haven that offers a fashion collection of authenticity and self expression,” according to the founders.” A store that inspired shoppers to create looks in a unique, one-of-a-kind way every time they stopped.”

A reputation that encouraged Wasteland’s founders to multiply its openings in California, on Haight Street in San Francisco, and on Melrose avenue and Ventura boulevard in Los Angeles.

Wasteland is inviting itself into a district already populated by several vintage shops. Among them, Vintage Humans, founded by Dominique Derouen, has became one of the most popular vintage destinations in Los Angeles. He is also at the helm of the Vintage Craft Market organized every two weeks in Highland Park. Other stores such as Avalon Vintage, The Bearded Beagle and more recently Western Gift, have drawn the attention of vintage fans over the years.
