Gigi Caruso’s swimwear on show at The Grove
Twenty three-year-old business woman, Gigi Caruso, has taken a step forward in the development of her swimwear brand Gigi C by opening her first VIP showroom and office at The Grove, Los Angeles.
“This location is iconic and means a lot to us,” said director and CEO, Caruso. “As Gigi C grows, my dream is to become a luxury, heritage brand and continue expanding the Gigi C lifestyle, taking it to new heights. This is where Gigi C creations will come to life and it is so important to me to be able to showcase our product so that people can see and feel our luxurious fabrics.”
Taking over the iconic location of Barney’s, which closed at the end of 2019, the 5,840-square-foot space was designed in collaboration with Los Angeles-based designer David Samuel Ko. The space was thought as a clean and minimal atmosphere, with black-and-white interior color palette reminiscent of the brand’s core colors, with an ashy oak floor true to the Gigi C brand identity. Black steel windows and partitions provide powerful contrast in key areas, and custom brass garment racks complement the brand’s hanging garments alongside two fitting rooms.
“We knew the second we walked in that we wanted everything to feel much brighter and open, unique and sophisticated, but also practical,” shared Ko, who worked closely alongside Caruso to bring the space to life. “We chose beautiful brass racks which is definitely the ‘wow’ moment when you first walk in and act as the jewelry of the space. This was such a collaborative experience and a labor of love and I am so excited for everyone to be able to see this space in person.”
The second floor is devoted to office space, with a large living room in the same white colors, bathed in light and overlooking the palm trees.
“I believe that to be able to run a successful and innovative business you have to be with your team in person,” added Caruso. “So, to be able to merge the Gigi C team’s workspace with the showroom gives us a special opportunity to interact with our community as a whole, allowing them to come face-to-face with the Gigi C pieces and to connect with the brand on a more personal level.”
Founded in 2017 by Gigi Caruso, the brand became known for its structured and elegant swimwear, sportswear and loungewear, with key features such as laser cut-outs and luxurious fabrics like the signature silky scuba. It has received notable recognition over the past six years, gaining popularity for its best-selling Surfsuit with celebrity fans ranging from Irina Shayk, Eva Longoria, Candice Swanepoel, Selma Blair, and Naomi Watts
