Rihanna, pregnant and in cool clothes. What more could one ask for? In a move that quite literally almost broke the internet, the Anti announced she was expecting via a street style photoshoot alongside her partner A$AP Rocky. One day in and the confirmed mother-to-be’s maternity style consists of a wardrobe much cooler we will ever own. Iconic.
The couple was shot by Miles Diggs during a weekend stroll in Harlem, the father-to-be’s hometown. To announce her expected bundle of joy, RiRi wore a knee-length hot pink vintage Chanel coat from the label’s Fall/Winter 1996 show by the late creative director Karl Lagerfeld. Opulence and luxury, a core concept when talking about ’90s Chanel, can be seen in the singer’s choice of accessories as she used glittering waist belts and jeweled body chains to frame her growing bump. The Fenty Beauty mogul kept it casual, pairing the top with a pair of ripped light-wash jeans. Also note: Rihanna served this look and her face card in the middle of a winter storm. No can else can do it like her.

It’s no surprise Rihanna chose to debut her pregnancy with nothing other than a style moment. The fashion legend has previously worked with the design house and the late Lagerfeld, becoming a first-row staple at Chanel’s shows in Paris and even wearing some of the brand’s pieces to go to the grocery store.
Although A$AP Rocky gave us a cute little number too (leather pants!), we can’t deny that Rihanna’s pregnant style stole the show. If we’re being honest, the entirety of Rihanna’s maternity wear has been jaw-dropping now that we can look back on some of the star’s fashion outings and realize she was expecting while wearing them. Now a plethora of oversized jackets and duvet-esque coats on recent date nights make a lot more sense.
Big congratulations to the parents-to-be, but more congratulations are due for Rihanna’s unborn child, who will no doubt inherit the world’s coolest closet curated by their style icon parents. (If I wasn’t so happy for them both, I would definitely be jealous of the little embryo.) We can’t wait to follow Rihanna’s maternity style in the months to come!
