France Fashion Bill Aims to End Harmful Thin Models

PARIS, March 15 (Reuters) – France’s parliament on Tuesday gave final approval to a bill that would ban extremely thin models from the catwalks and magazine covers, aiming to fight anorexia among young people.

The bill, which must now be signed into law by President Emmanuel Macron, was approved by a large majority in the lower house of parliament, with 84 votes in favour and two abstentions.

The new law will require models to provide a medical certificate proving they are healthy enough to work. It will also prohibit the alteration of images to make models appear thinner.
