Scotch & Soda boosts China business with new stores
Dutch fashion brand Scotch & Soda is continuing its growth strategy and has turned its focus to China with the opening of its first flagship store in Shanghai and additional openings planned in the country.
The Shanghai store is in the city’s fashion and lifestyle district Xintiandi, “adding a new and distinctive destination to the brand’s portfolio worldwide”.
The debut follows the official launch of Scotch & Soda’s first digital store on Tmall
The new store is located in a two-storey building in the “traditional and local Shikumen architectural style”. It has 289 sq m of retail selling space and despite the traditional aspects, was designed under Scotch & Soda’s latest ‘Free Spirit’ store concept.
The location displays the label’s new brand identity on its façade. “Embracing the symbol of unity at the heart of the brand’s name, the ampersand logo follows the delicate movement of a thread attached to the eye of a needle, a nod to the craftsmanship that goes into Scotch & Soda’s collections”, the company said.
And the label will continue to expand in China over the next few months with its first store in the Shanghai Taikoo Li shopping centre. Two more directly operated stores will open in the Beijing Sanlitun and the Shanghai Reel shopping destinations, bringing Scotch & Soda’s store count in China to five by the middle of the year.
