Earlier this month Gigi Hadid collaborated with her childhood friend Francesca Aiello, the founder of Frankies Bikinis, on an exclusive collection of swimwear and resortwear for the brand, and both women modeled the ruffled bikinis and playful one-pieces in the campaign.
And at the launch event for the capsule in New York, Gigi demonstrated that there’s no need to confine the collection to the beach. The model wore a swimsuit from the collab adorned with a sweet fawn pattern, a print she chose as a nod to her own journey as mother to her baby daughter, Khai. (“Creating this collection was so special because there are so many details that we incorporated into each piece that are personal to both my friendship with Frank and my personal life,” she previously told .)
Gigi styled the blue-and-white swimsuit like a bodysuit, teaming it with cream-color low-rise trousers and an offbeat cream shirt that covered her arms and shoulders, plus cream heels and layered crystal jewelry. She also subtly paid tribute to her friend Virgil Abloh, who passed away last year, by carrying a bright blue monogrammed clutch from the late designer’s autumn-winter 2020 menswear show for Louis Vuitton.
As Gigi proves, swimwear can be worn on the beach and beyond.
