The Pleasures brand was created eight years ago in Los Angeles by Alex James and Vlad Elkin around an initial selection of T-shirts and hoodies noted for their bold and vibrating graphics.
The founders have been influenced by streetwear and the music they grew up with – grunge, metal and punk rock – and collaborated since years with a number of legendary music bands, including Blur, Weezer and New Order. The brand is distributed in some thirty stores worldwide, including the Bodega concept store in Los Angeles, Next Door in Paris, and Juice Store in Asia.
First seen in January, with an oversized shape and wrapped in a blend of technical and high-performance materials, the Velophasis sneaker by Pleasures has been customized with an applied purple overdye that wraps the shoe from laces to sole. An aesthetic choice “that gives a ‘do it yourself’ and already worn effect,” explains Sarah Mayer, head of product line management at Puma sportstyle.
According to Puma, the collaboration with the Pleasures brand will continue throughout 2023.
