Now, this is what I call committing to the look.
For her performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park, Billie Eilish showed Chi-Town a little extra love by repping the city’s most iconic team—the Chicago Bulls—from the bottoms of her feet to the top of her head. Literally. To match her black and red Bulls jersey and stylishly oversized basketball shorts, Eilish dyed the roots of her dark hair bright red at the crown. The “Bad Guy” singer teased the new look on her Instagram, asking followers in the caption, “Remember me?”

The real question now is whether this hair was just a onetime thing for the Lolla performance, or whether this signals Eilish’s return to her (dyed) roots for the foreseeable future. While she has rocked a wide variety of hair colors and styles over the past few years, when she first blew up in 2019 with the release of When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, her hair was dark with bright green roots. The reverse-emo style quickly became iconic to Eilish specifically, and her fans have clearly not forgotten.
“ROOT ERA IS BACK ROOT ERA IS BACKKKK,” wrote one enthusiastic commenter on IG. “OMFG. just fell to my knees. NEW ERA??!!!!” commented another fan. Another commenter wrote, “BILLIE ARE YOU KIDDING ME.” And yes, each was written in all caps.
But I mean, does Billie Eilish need to return to an era when she is so clearly the moment?
