Kate Middleton was perfectly polished in midnight blue as she carried out a solo engagement in Surrey on Tuesday, September 12. The Princess of Wales, 41, rewore an Alexander McQueen blazer and matching cigarette trousers for the visit to HMP High Down, where she learned more about her patronage The Forward Trust.
The princess found a touching way to keep her children close to her heart: a delicate gold necklace engraved with the initials of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Daniella Draper piece has become a favourite of the royal mother of three, who is known for her less-is-more approach to accessorising. Her Royal Highness finished the sophisticated look with Gianvito Rossi pumps and earrings by another go-to designer, Kiki McDonough.
During the visit, the Princess of Wales heard more about the work that the Forward Trust does inside High Down prison to “support clients to manage their addiction and to help break the intergenerational trauma of addiction,” Kensington Palace explained ahead of the visit. The statement continued: “The princess’ experience working with addiction charities for more than a decade has helped lay the groundwork for her understanding of the complexities of mental health and has informed much of her work on the early years. The princess became Patron of the Forward Trust in June 2021 when the charity merged with Action on Addiction, which was one of Her Royal Highness’ first Patronages in 2012.”
The Princess of Wales is returning to work after the summer break. On Friday she joined Prince William at a service commemorating the life of Queen Elizabeth III on the anniversary of Her Majesty’s death. Over the weekend the Prince and Princess of Wales each attended a Rugby World Cup match in their respective roles as patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Welsh Rugby Union.
For her sporty outing, Kate put an elevated twist on England’s team color by wearing a white Alexander McQueen suit. Sharp, tailored looks like these recent Alexander McQueen triumphs have become a staple of the Princess of Wales’s royal working wardrobe.
