If your grandmother has a fabulous vintage fur coat in her closet somewhere, now might be a good time to ask her if you could take it for a spin, because Dua Lipa is bringing the glamorous style back with a vengeance. The pop star was spotted out in midtown New York City on November 28, wearing an ankle-length black fur coat to keep away the winter chill.
Lipa let her outerwear do most of the talking with this fit, wearing her red hair down and keeping the makeup and jewelry to a minimum. She accessorized with a black crocodile-skin clutch and black boots whose pointed toes were just visible beneath the hem of the coat.
The fur coat may be a classic, but the outfit Lipa wore underneath certainly isn’t. Under her luxurious coat, Dua Lipa wore a sheer lace catsuit over a pair of high-waist black underwear. A slay if I’ve ever seen one.
Like sheer lace ensembles, oversized coats that go heavy on the fuzzy factor have been trending for a few years now. See Jennifer Lopez’s plush teddy coat, Sandra Bullock’s navy blue shearling, and Rihanna’s statement furs. Now, I don’t know how long the see-through clothing trend is going to last, but a good (faux) fur will always be in style.
