The red carpet at the Vanity Fair always welcomes a long list of Hollywood celebrities outside of the nominees and presenters at the main event, with more avant-garde styling than you’d see at the official Oscars ceremony. This year was no exception, as Olivia Wilde wore a black bra, Tracee Ellis Ross arrived in a dramatic wide-brimmed hat, and Emily Ratajkowski—along with several others—opted for naked dresses. Hailey Bieber, however, had a simpler approach.
Bieber showed the power of a black red-carpet gown and how sometimes it really is best to keep things classic, with a focus on impeccable fit and construction. The beauty mogul and her stylist Karla Welch settled on a timeless long-sleeve column gown, a custom Saint Laurent creation. The silhouette was very classic and elegant; however, drama was added with a gloved sleeve, plus a satin panel running down the left-hand side of the dress, leading on from an oversized bow draped over the shoulder. A spliced sleeve then fell into a dramatic sash cascading from the elbow, giving the look plenty of movement.
